How to Organize Coupons Using The Brand Method

Are you trying to figure out which is the best method for coupon organization? A quick and easy method to sort, file and find coupons in minutes? Try the Brand Method for Coupon Organization.

Once I started using the Brand Method for organizing coupons, my extreme coupon planning time was less time consuming. Sunday inserts were clipped and sorted in minutes, not hours.

Additionally, filing and sorting coupons by brand turned out to be the easiest method for doing unadvertised deals at any store.

What made using the brand method for clipping and sorting coupons the best for me was that when planning my shopping trip, I easily found the right coupon for the best sale or coupon matchup deal.

I used a bit of psychology when searching for the best method to organize my coupons and prepare for a grocery shopping trip.

You see, Brands spend a lot of time using marketing tactics such as colors, design, name and other practices to create a recognizable brand and consumer affiliation with their product. In other words, brands create a method to make it easier to recognize a brand rather than a category.

Therefore, for the purpose of preparing for a shopping trip, it was easier to find a coupon for “Kraft”, rather than searching for category “mayonnaise” to find the right coupon in my coupon organizer.

If you think about how to prepare for a shopping trip, we search for deals and sales in a store. Say you’re shopping at CVS for example. Do you check the CVS sales flyer? If you pay attention to the sales, it is the brands that are offering the discounts. Thus, in order to save, you match that brand’s sale to an available brand coupon. Does that make sense to you?

Getting started using the Brand Method

  1. Find the right coupon storage or holder

When I first started using coupons I saw several extreme couponers using binders, so I got one. This didn’t work for me. It was too bulky to carry around. It also took too much space in the shopping cart and I had to find plastic photo sheet protectors to put my coupons into.

This was more trouble than its worth.

Types of coupon organizers

There are several types of coupon organizers to choose from.

Since I didn’t know what to get, I went to the store and checked out all the files, folders, binders, envelopes to get coupon and insert storage ideas. (I also made a video of what I found to save you the shopping trip)

  • binders
  • folders
  • files
  • envelopes

I settled on a small accordion file. It is easy to carry and holds all my coupons.

This small accordion file is light and compact. Coupons still got lost, and a lot went unused. So I set out to find a quick and easy coupon organization method that doesn’t take a lot of time to sort or find coupons.

2. Dividers

Get file divider tabs with alphabet letters. I recommend getting plastic binder dividers. These can be sized to whatever size file, folder or binder you chose. Plastic as opposed to paper dividers are more durable and won’t tear.

The tab that work best are the ones that are clear, and come with a small blank paper which you can write what you want. This makes it more customizable.

Here are some examples of tabbed letter dividers in different sizes

3. File

Next, sort your coupons by the brand of the product. Then place them in the corresponding letter section of the coupon organizer.

The Brand method of organizing coupons is pretty easy and straightforward to set up and use. Its much less time consuming as well.
